Steve is an Entrepreneur, Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and Executive with 20 years of experience in financial services. He is Co-Founder, Co-Owner, and CEO of Sapiat Financial Group, acting as President and Lead Financial Advisor at Sapiat Asset Management.
Steve is also a 3rd generation veteran, having proudly served with the U.S. Army’s 9th Infantry Regiment. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, Steve enrolled at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, while simultaneously working in construction and as an auto mechanic to help fund his education. After graduating with a B.A. Economics in 1999, he began his career in financial services as a Management Trainee at First National Bank Alaska. After only three years on the job, he was promoted to Assistant Vice-President of Commercial Lending at the bank’s corporate headquarters. As a banker, Steve worked on some of the largest commercial transactions across the state. He was frequently called upon to consult federal, state, and municipal agencies, tribal governments, and even a U.S. Senator, all before the age of 30.
In 2003, Steve was recruited by Edward Jones Investments to manage and serve as Lead Financial Advisor of a small branch in his home state of Tennessee. While there, he worked with numerous families, small-business owners, and entrepreneurs to build a multimillion-dollar business. In 2010, he co-founded Strong Heritage Financial Group with his wife and business partner, Donna, and in 2015, Strong Heritage became Sapiat Financial Group. Sapiat Financial Group, Inc. is 100% owner of Sapiat Asset Management, LLC.
For the past 15 years he has worked exclusively with Individuals & Families, their Businesses, and the Trusts that benefit them. Prior to that he focused on municipal finance with a specialty in sovereign tribal government housing projects.
His professional work often includes Retirement Planning, Retirement Income Management, & Estate Planning. His typical client profile ranges from “Blue Collar Middle Class” to “White Collar Executive” to “High Net Worth”. His favorite thing about financial planning is watching a client achieve an important goal and knowing that he had a hand in their success.
As an Entrepreneur & Executive he is an aggressive businessman always searching for exciting business opportunities to grow & expand in desired markets. Whether it be through organic growth or prudent M&A, his goal is to cultivate his company into a mature, multi-state business. As a Certified Financial Planner he is an objective & disciplined advisor who can be trusted to always place his clients first. He spends time getting to know his clients before a plan is ever created and then dedicates himself to helping them successfully achieve their goals.
In addition to his college degree, Steve has studied on scholarship at two prestigious economic think-tanks; the Ludwig von Mises Institute at Auburn University and the Property & Environment Research Center at Montana State University.
Dedicated to career long professional education, Steve has earned a number of professional designations, including Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (AWMA), Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS), and Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS).
He is a professional member of the Financial Planning Association and the Financial Planning Association of East Tennessee.
Among his numerous professional awards, he has been inducted into the Top 40 Under 40 Tri-Cities TN/VA and been named Best Financial Advisor in Greene County, TN.
Steve has a big heart for children and nearly all of his volunteer activities revolve around caring for them. He has served many years on the Board of Directors for various Junior Achievement programs, on the Board of Directors for Tennessee Children’s Home, has logged hundreds of hours as a classroom volunteer, and has sponsored many youth sports teams.
In his free-time, he is an avid outdoorsman who particularly enjoys hiking, camping, & hunting. Weekends often find him exploring the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee, North Carolina, & Virginia.
In addition to his work with Sapiat Financial Group and Sapiat Asset Management, he is also President at Sapiat Real Estate, an owner occupied commercial real estate investment firm.

Donna is a talented Entrepreneur and Executive with nearly 22 years of experience as a successful business owner. She is Co-Founder, Co-Owner, and COO of Sapiat Financial Group, also acting as COO at Sapiat Asset Management.
Donna’s career began with several years as a successful business owner in the highly competitive Alaskan construction industry. While winding down her business, she began her financial services career as a Personal Banker at First National Bank Alaska. During her time with the bank, she worked closely with families, small-business owners, and entrepreneurs in many industries, with a niche focus on specialty contractors. She relocated to Tennessee in 2003 to work as Branch Office Administrator for Edward Jones Investments, working closely with families, small-business owners, and entrepreneurs
In 2010, she co-founded Strong Heritage Financial Group with her husband and business partner, Steve, and in 2015, Strong Heritage became Sapiat Financial Group. Sapiat Financial Group, Inc. is 100% owner of Sapiat Asset Management, LLC.
With a keen eye for detail, nearly all of her entrepreneurial activities revolve around back-office operations for the businesses she owns. She is a driven businesswoman efficiently managing processes, resources, reporting, and personnel. Her goal is perfection in creating and maintaining the invisible ocean of operational support necessary for Financial Advisors to successfully care for their customers.
Donna has a soft spot for children. She has served on the board’s of several parent-teacher organizations, worked as team mother for more teams than she can recall, and spent several years as a Cradle Roll teacher at her church.
Donna has many varied interests outside of work. In her free time she can most often be found exploring the Appalachian Mountains, traveling the U.S. to experience new places & meet new people, or managing her ever growing international essential oil business.
